Medicare Billing

BMPI makes Medicare filing easy by offering claim submission and follow-up. Our knowledgeable and experienced customer service team works hard to get your claim approved.

Assignment

BMPI is a non-participating supplier and does not accept assignment. Therefore prepayment is required for the product(s) and BMPI will assist with seeking reimbursement from Medicare.

Prescription Policy

U.S. federal law restricts the sale of some products only on the order of a physician. Please note you must have a prescription from a physician on file with BMPI before we can ship this product to you. The prescription may be in the form of a mailed form or letter, email, or fax.

ALL Patients:

• Order online at www.trachs.com or by phone at 800-433-2674.

• Mail, fax, or email authorized PRESCRIPTION FORM for appropriate products.

• Sign and return PATIENT SERVICE AGREEMENT

• Sign and return the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT of specified documents:

o Welcome Letter

o HIPAA PATIENT PRIVACY NOTICE - DME SUPPLIER

o Patients Bill of Rights and Responsibilities

o Ordering Information

• Pay with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, check or money order.

Patients with insurance and DME coverage:

Complete PATIENT INSURANCE INFORMATION FORM provided by BMPI and return via mail, fax, or email.

Sign and return ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT of additional specified documents:

o CMS MEDICARE DMEPOS SUPPLIER STANDARDS

Once order has been placed and all required paperwork is obtained, Boston Medical will ship the product and, upon request, submit an insurance claim on your behalf.

Medicare

If you have Original or Traditional Medicare, BMPI can submit a claim on your behalf. BMPI does not accept assignment. Therefore, all customers will prepay the full amount of the desired products at the time of order.

BMPI will submit a claim to Medicare and Medicare will then reimburse based on their portion of the allotted amount.

If Medicare determines that a particular product or service, although it would be otherwise covered, is not reasonable and necessary under Medicare program standards, Medicare will deny payment for that service.

Medicare might deny payment for the product(s) or service(s) provided by BMPI.

If Medicare denies payment, patient agrees to be personally and fully responsible for payment.

Out-Of-Network

For all other Medicare Plans and Private Insurance carriers BMPI is considered Out-Of-Network. It is strongly recommended you contact your insurance carrier prior to ordering. You need to confirm that your coverage includes Durable Medical Equipment (DME) benefits and what those benefits include. Also, because BMPI is Out-Of-Network a Prior Authorization may be required. Please have your insurance provider fax any Prior Authorization paperwork to 508-898-2373.

What is DME?

Durable Medical Equipment (DME) is a term used in the medical industry to describe medical equipment or supplies which are meant to last for more than 3 years. Medicare and Private Insurance will often provide DME benefits for their members. To verify your DME benefits and eligibility, please contact your insurance provider prior to purchasing.    

What is a HCPCS Code?

A Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code is an alphanumeric code which tells Medicare and Private Insurance companies the type of product you are purchasing. This code is also used to verify payment amounts (allowable) based on the current year’s HCPCS fee schedule.  

What is reimbursement?

In general, a reimbursement is provided after you have paid for an item in full at the time of purchase. With Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance, they will typically reimbursement you a percentage of your total purchase price. To verify your reimbursement amounts and eligibility, please contact your insurance provider prior to purchasing.    

What is an ICD Code?

An ICD or, International Classification of Diseases code is used to identify the type of medical condition an individual is diagnosed with. Generally, these codes are used in conjunction with a medical necessity letter used for DME reimbursement.
